Wow! crucial.com just cut the price of 1GB of notebook DDR PC2100 to $295.99 from $330. I’m waiting for the price to reach $200 so I can load up my ThinkPad T40. I’m seriously in need of more memory!

I forgot to mention the whole purpose of creating the aforementioned project: reliable backups. On Linux, I can use journaled file systems and numerous utilities (ex. dd, tar, rsync, sftp, partimage, etc) to backup.
