It seems that Duke University has made the unprecedented step of doing something about the sleeping habits of college students.
Being an afternoon person, I fully agree with the steps taken by Duke University. However, I believe their steps were a little too conservative; an extra 30 minutes of sleep isn’t going to change much. It’s a step in the right direction, though. Hopefully other colleges will follow suit.
While I am not a firm believer in the need to sleep (oh, the life of engineering students), I do enjoy sleeping when I can. If classes started later, I’d definitely get more sleep and miss less class due to oversleeping. Really, what’s the point of class if you’re too exhausted to learn anything…
